The popularity of Dubai city is not limited to the ancient Arabian culture anymore. It has offered several architectural marvels in the past few decades and continues to surprise the world with massive spectacles. The city has become an iconic tourist destination due to many breath-taking architectures that are unique in every possible way. This time, Dubai’s endless passion for architecture has given the world the gift of the most prominent picture frame, which is popularly known as The Dubai Frame. The impressive megastructure offers picturesque views of Dubai’s magnificent skyline and iconic landmarks.
All about the world’s largest picture frame
Located at the Zabeel Park, the Dubai Frame comprises two towers, each standing 150m high from the base and connected through a 93m long bridge at the top with a void in the centre. Also known as Berwaz Dubai, the frame was designed to represent the evolution of Dubai from an ancient Arab village to the modern cosmopolitan city it has now become. From the top of the frame, one can view Dubai’s past, present, and future. Let us explore more about this fascinating attraction:
The Dubai frame was designed by an award-winning architect Fernando Donis, who has also created two more architectural wonders in Dubai. The construction of this frame was started in 2013, but the project was assumed to be delayed for three years. Hence, the project was completed in five years, and this iconic landmark was opened to visitors in January 2018. The exterior of the frame is covered with stainless gold cladding in a honeycomb ring design inspired by the logo of Dubai Expo 2020, which was hosted in Dubai.
The golden frame, Dubai, gracefully represents Old Dubai when you see it towards the north side. When you look towards the south of the structure, you will see modern skyscrapers that justify the city’s rapid transformation. Thus, when you turn north, you’ll see Karama, Deira, and Bur Dubai, and when you turn south, you’ll observe an advanced city with landmarks such as Burj Khalifa, Downtown, Financial Center, and many more attractions. Zabeel Park is also a popular tourist attraction and offers a lush green landscape that is a treat to the eyes.
